The HMA Vision

Since its inception in Southern California in 2005, HORIPRO Music Academy has been the regional leader in providing premier music education for children, teens and adults. Founded by classically trained musician, Shiho Yamamoto, HMA has flourished and evolved to suit the needs of families looking to enrich their children’s lives through musical studies. Students at HMA, under the guidance of professional music educators, receive a strong technical foundation as well as the skills necessary to help them develop their own artistic voice.

HORIPRO Music Academy’s instructors are at the core of the student experience. All of them hold music degrees from premier colleges and universities and most of them are accomplished professional performers in their field.  Additionally, many of our instructors are bilingual and can offer quality instruction in Japanese and Russian.

One of HMA’s most exciting innovations is our unique, proprietary teaching method for young children–ColorSoundation. Through the use of color-coded musical exercises, children can easily make connections to the essential elements of music—melody, rhythm, and tone color. Our method gives children an edge in music literacy and helps to speed up their musical development.

Through a structured course of intensive study, HORIPRO Music Academy’s graduated lessons help to transition students from Basic to Advanced levels of musical achievement. Our time-tested pedagogical approach helps develop well–rounded and confident young musicians.

HMA was founded in part with Japan’s leading music entertainment company, HORIPRO Inc. in 2005.
